THE CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENT - Gentle, manual pressure to release the vacuum restricting movement.
The chiropractic ADJUSTMENT is our primary method to restore the body's ability to heal and regenerate. If the spine is out of alignment the ADJUSTMENT is the only treatment that will promote true healing of the areas affected. we use gentle, non-force, manual, which means "by hand", methodology as dictated by the patients needs. Supplemental devices may be used as dictated by the severity and location of injury or pain as soft tissue and muscle areas may be affected.
THE KEY TO CHIROPRACTIC
By providing a joint with the greatest movement, the chiropractic ADJUSTMENT allows the greatest stretching of the associated muscles and ligaments. This stretching provides for more, and better alignment of the healing tissue. The by-product is a more functional motor unit. Neurologically, the greater movement a joint has, the smaller the transfer of pain impulses that produces muscle spasm and this breaks the cycle produced in the first place.
A chiropractic adjustment can be completed in as short of time as ten minutes though often times other therapy's are used to promote muscle relaxation in order to achieve the best result with the ADJUSTMENT.
ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION - Electrical patches adhere to the skin to stimulate specific muscle groups. The electrical impulse is adjusted to provide optimum passive (non-impact) exercise of the weakened muscle group.
ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION is a procedure used to passively exercise muscular soft tissue up to the tolerance of healthy tissue, but not past the point of pain where tissue destruction could take place. This electrical current stimulates the nerves as they enter the muscle and gently contracts the muscle in a rhythmic pattern to accomplish a variety of therapeutic benefits.
At the time of injury, muscles, ligaments and para-vertebral soft tissue are flooded with lactic acid and toxic materials. These toxic materials must be cleansed by the lymphatic system. Unlike the "blood" system, which has the heart to pump it, the lymphatic system relies on the movement of the surrounding tissue to push it through. While this natural movement can be severely restricted by pain and swelling, it can be instigated with ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION which contracts the muscles in rhythmic patterns that aid greatly in assisting the body in this cleansing process.
Because inactivity allows a muscle to heal in a weakened state, ELECTRICAL MUSCLE STIMULATION is an excellent procedure to promote healing, strengthening and stabilizing factors in the recuperating muscle.
MOIST HEAT THERAPY - The heat of the packs is maintained in hot water thermostatically controlled storage units. The packs are wrapped in towels to protect the skin and keep the heat moving toward the body.
MOIST HEAT THERAPY has been recommended for many years as an aid to help long term healing as it softens the tissue and promotes pliability as the tissue heals. Cryotherapy, cold pack therapy, is used on acute injuries to reduce swelling and ease pain. A major issue after injury of tissue is the formation of scar tissue or in a chronic stressful condition that results in the loss of elasticity in the soft tissues. This loss restricts blood and nerve flow, which reduces the body's ability to promote healing.
HOT PACKS:
- Expand the openings of even the smallest vessels to promote increased blood flow, increasing nourishment to injured tissue.
- Relax your muscles reducing the spasms even at the lower tissue levels thereby slowing pulse rate respirations and decreasing spasms.
- Slow down reactions to muscle spasms and calms the unwanted response to nerve excitability that brings "stabbing pains" during muscle spasms.
- Dilate channels in your body to help get rid of waste products and make room for new tissue growth.
- Help to "set the stage" for proper healing.
When used in conjunction with the chiropractic adjustment, heat packs help promote long term healing. The use of multiple therapies have a magnifying effect on each other and aid in the “holding” of the adjustments thereby reducing the overall treatment time.
INTERSEGMENTAL TRACTION THERAPY - The "Backtracker" gives gentle traction like pulling up and down the length of the spine while you rest on the table.
INTERSEGMENTAL TRACTION is a specialized procedure designed to give passive exercise to the 110 joints associated with your spine. "Passive exercise" is only produced with the aid of an outside source, working the muscles and joints without straining them with weight bearing stress.
INTERSEGMENTAL TRACTION, when used in conjunction with the chiropractic adjustment, loosens the locked up joints and gives passive motion exercise and therapy that feed the disc between the vertebrae. This helps to return flexibility, elasticity, and preservation to that all-important disc space which protects the opening for the spinal nerve. Patients have described the feeling of INTERSEGMENTAL TRACTION therapy as the "magic fingers" approach to back care. Its ability to "iron out" a crooked spine with its soothing way of stretching the muscles and fibers along the spine is providing positive results wherever it is used.
